I'm a Boston-based freelance writer and author who has written for top publications like ParentingFamily CircleSelfPsychology TodayWriter's DigestOxygenThe Writerthe Boston GlobeCook's Illustrated, and more. My book authoring credits include Psychology Today's Secrets of Successful Weight Loss (Alpha/Penguin),  The Renegade Writer: A Totally Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing Success, The Renegade Writer's Query Letters That Rock, and Rock-Solid Queries. I also write erotic fiction under a pseudonym with That's What She Said Press.

I'm also a popular (and some say entertaining) speaker at writing conferences. I've spoken about my research secrets to my query letter marketing tips at conferences such as the American Society of Journalists and Authors, Chicago Magazine Writers & Editors One-on-One, the Editorial Freelancers Association, and the Rhode Island Library Association. I've taught freelance writing classes through community colleges, adult education centers, and the Renegade Writer website.

For fun, I'm a serious home cook and avid baker. When I'm not in the kitchen or at my computer, I can be found in my modest garden, tending crops of heirloom tomatoes and year-round kale. My hobbies and interests include collecting vintage cookbooks, obsessive knitting while watching good films, sewing my own clothing, traveling to exotic locales, Anglophilia, and biking everywhere. (I've even given up my car for a year, just to see if I can survive with only my two legs and a bike.)
